The Borrowers

An artists book based on “The Borrowers” by Mary Norton. Hand dyed, with embroidered pages and finished with stamped text. This textile concertina book puts my embroidered illustrations to work as a three dimensional and movable object. Pages are bound using fine ribbon and can be folded in several combinations and thus can me read in multiple different ways.

The book is completely without text, focusing on the sole use of illustrative embroidery to inform the narrative. This technique also allows for more freedom over interpretation by the reader. Each page was hand designed, dyed and stitched before being joined in sequence to stiff pages and bound with ribbon.
